Miami used to be one of the dominant programs in the world of college football. However, the Hurricanes have struggled to find their feet in the landscape over the last few years. They’ve only secured more than seven wins in just one of the past six seasons.

Nonetheless, Joel Klatt believes the Hurricanes will bounce back in the 2024 college football season. Speaking on a recent installment of “The Joel Klatt Show,” the FOX Sports analyst sees an improved roster and a favorable schedule, which could see them win the first seven games.

“7-6 a year ago and yet here comes Cam Ward and they come in and they’ve recruited at a very high level,” Klatt said. “So that makes me want to go to the schedule, OK, what does their schedule look like? Manageable. Manageable. They could be 7-0 when they face FSU. In fact, likelihood that they’re 7-0.”

Portal acquisition could elevate the Hurricanes

One of the reasons there’s a feeling that Miami could have a brilliant season in 2024 was the program’s exploit on the transfer portal. The program made some significant acquisitions, which could immediately improve them as a team. This is headlined by quarterback Cam Ward.

Joel Klatt believes Ward isn’t the only talented acquisition by the Hurricanes ahead of the 2024 season. He pointed out to running back Damien Martinez, who will partner Ward in the backfield. The analyst thinks this is enough weapon for Mario Cristobal to bring Miami back on its feet.

“They get Damien Martinez, the running back from Oregon State,” Klatt said. “He’s a really good player, so I like that pickup. And Cristobal needs a bounce-back. He’s gone 12-13 in his first two years. He was more successful than that at Oregon. I think Miami could have a bounce-back next year.”

What does Miami's schedule look like in 2024?
