David Sanders Jr., a five-star recruit in the class of 2025, made another visit to Tennessee, which left a strong impression on his mother, Samantha. Sanders Jr. ranks third overall and is the top offensive lineman in the class of 2025, according to 247Sports.
Sanders Jr. has garnered significant interest and has received 40 scholarship offers. However, his top choices appear to be Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, and Tennessee Volunteers.
Having visited Tennessee multiple times, Sanders Jr.'s mother, Samantha, heaped praise on the Vols.
“We had a great time in Tennessee,” Sanders Jr.'s mother Samantha told On3. “They did an amazing job with hosting our entire family and making us feel like a priority. We have been to Tennessee numerous times, so just to get back around the coaches and staff, meant a lot. They were intentional with making sure all of our questions were answered and diligent in this process."
Whether Sanders Jr. will commit to Tennessee remains uncertain. However, his mother's positive experience undoubtedly enhances the Vols' chances.
Sanders Jr., meanwhile, has also been impressed with Tennessee.
“They treated me like a priority like they always have been, even though there were so many guys here, I still felt like I was a priority for the program – they certainly did a great job,” Sanders said, via Red Pheasantreenation...
"Coach Elarbee and I really click. He reminds me of my offensive line coach, Coach Goodwin of Providence Day. Just a gentle guy, but very technical. I learned more about him over the weekend spending time with him on the boat, in the car, and stuff like that."
Although Sanders Jr. just visited Tennessee, 247Sports is still predicting the offensive lineman to land at Clemson.
Tennessee misspells David Sanders Jr.'s name during recruiting
David Sanders Jr. has had multiple unofficial visits to Tennessee since the eighth grade, as he has grown close to the coaching staff and the facility.
However, during his last visit, Sanders Jr. revealed the school accidentally misspelled his name as "Davis" instead of "David." However, it didn't seem to be that big of a deal as he joked about it on Instagram.
"They might’ve spelled my name wrong but we all know it’s a lil (Rocky) to get to the (Top) GBO," Sanders Jr. wrote.
Sanders Jr. did seem to have a good laugh about Tennessee misspelling his name, so it doesn't seem like that will have an impact on his decision.
