Alabama has had a significant improvement in its offensive line this offseason. It's been one of Kalen DeBoer’s primary focus areas since replacing Nick Saban as the head coach of the program in January. The Crimson Tide offensive line had some notable flaws in the previous season.
Marvin Constant is happy with the team's current offensive line room. In his appearance on a recent episode of The Bama Standard, Constant noted that the current offense line assembled by DeBoer is bound to be more effective.
“I’m glad the offensive line is more athletic,” Constant said. “They were too big last year. All that size didn’t intimidate anyone other than Golden Corral.”
Who’s in the new Alabama offensive line room?
After building one of the strongest offensive lines in college football at Washington, Kalen DeBoer is set to replicate the same feat at Alabama. He's been able to assemble some top prospects this offseason via the transfer portal ahead of his first season in Tuscaloosa.
The Crimson Tide has brought in Parker Brailsford from Washington via the portal. He was a key member of DeBoer's offensive line group at Washington and has followed him to Alabama.
Geno VanDeMark is another big addition to the Crimson Tide offensive line. Following a three-year tenure at Michigan State, the New Jersey native is set to continue his career in Tuscaloosa.
Following a redshirt freshman season at Texas A&M where he saw no game time, Naquil Bertrand transferred away from the Aggies this offseason. He will continue his career with the Crimson Tide.
Kadyn Proctor was one of the many players who transferred away from Alabama following the arrival of Kalen DeBoer. However, he decided to return to Tuscaloosa after spending some time with his native Iowa football program.
With Tyler Booker sticking with the Crimson Tide for his junior season following the exit of Saban, this comes as a major boost for the team ahead of the 2024 season.
Alabama's offensive line for the upcoming season also boasts the likes of Olaus Alinen, Wilkin Formby, Joseph Ionata, Miles McVay and Rod Montgomery. All of them will be competing for game time through the season.
Without a doubt, the offensive line will play a major role in DeBoer's success in his new job. After the Crimson Tide's display in the Rose Bowl loss against Michigan, it was clear that the group needed some upgrades. It is to be seen how that turns out in the upcoming season.
