After being named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, Travis Hunter appeared to deliver a savage response to those who doubted him at the start of the 2024 college football season. On Thursday, Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders posted a congratulatory Instagram message for Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who collected the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year award.
In response, Hunter then dropped a cheeky comment on Sanders' post.
"They called us crazy 💯," Hunter wrote.
Hunter had a fabulous season with Colorado, both in offense and defense. As a defensive back, he finished the regular season with 31 tackles, 11 passes deflected, four interceptions and one forced fumble in 12 games. Hunter also added 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns on 92 catches as a wideout.
Meanwhile, Shedeur led the offense expertly for Colorado. The quarterback racked up 3,925 passing yards, 35 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also added four rushing touchdowns across 12 games.
Colorado finished the regular season with a 9-3 record (7-2 Big 12). Coach Prime's team has been one of the most improved programs this year.
Last season, which was Sanders' first at the helm, Colorado finished with an underwhelming 4-8 record, failing to qualify for a bowl game. This season, however, the Buffs were in contention to qualify for the College Football Playoff, and they will also play a bowl game later in December.
Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders are expected to play in Colorado's bowl game
Earlier this week, Coach Prime confirmed that his key players will play in Colorado's bowl game later this month. This means Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders are likely to suit up for CU's bowl game before potentially declaring for the NFL draft.
Both Hunter and Sanders are projected as early first-round picks in the 2025 draft. They will want to boost their draft stock even further when they take the field for Colorado's bowl game.
