Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson is in his sophomore year with the Wildcats and is expected to be the QB1 for the school this season. Johnson recently spoke to Chris Vannini of The Athletic about EA Sports' upcoming video game, College Football 25.
In a video posted on X Tuesday, the dual-threat QB was asked for his thoughts about the game, and he had good things to say about the release.
Johnson said he's been anticipating the video game for years and is glad to be a part of it. When asked about his opinion regarding his in-game character, Johnson said:
"They were close. I'll say they were close, but I think I'm definitely faster than how my character is moving."
He believes he's one of the three fastest players on his team, but he's waiting for the final drop.
Why you should use Avery Johnson and Kansas State in EA CFB 25
Dual-threat quarterbacks are some of the most interesting players to use in American football video games, and Avery Johnson fits the mold. Johnson was a multi-sport athlete at Maize High School and has carried that athleticism to the collegiate level.
Johnson will marshal the Wildcats' offense, but the team's defense is its calling card. According to Fox Sports, Kansas State is rated 84 overall, which means it has the 24th-ranked defense in the EA College Football 25.
The Kansas State Wildcats are fascinating due to their balance, team chemistry and roster potential. The team doesn't have a top-25 offense at the start of the game, so that's something that you can build. Furthermore, K-State's rivals, the Kansas Jayhawks, have an overall rating of 87 at the beginning. It'll be a challenge to surpass them and become the best football program in Kansas.
What can you expect from Avery Johnson and Kansas State in 2024?
The Kansas State Wildcats had a decent 2023 college football season, ending the year with an 8-4 record. Their team didn't lose a game by more than seven points, which should give its fan base hope for better things. The Wildcats ended the season with a Pop-Tarts Bowl victory over the NC State Wolfpack.
The Wildcats are expected to be even better this year with the full integration of Avery Johnson into their offense. The team's fans should expect a better record and potentially some noise with the revamped college football postseason format.
