Last Friday, Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders was awarded the prestigious Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. This award recognizes the best upperclassman QB in the country, confirming Sanders' place as one of the best players in the 2025 NFL draft class.

Despite winning the accolade, Sanders was not among the finalists for the much-coveted Heisman Trophy which was announced on Monday. Regardless, Sanders traveled to New York for the ceremony which will be held on December 14 to support his Heisman-contending teammate Travis Hunter, who is the favorite to win it according to FanDuel (-4,000).

Before the ceremony, Shedeur Sanders played a game of catch on the street with New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers. In a clip posted on the "2Legendary" Instagram page, he had a hilarious conversation with his father, Deion Sanders, aka Coach Prime.

"You really think I'm actually gonna go on the subway and I don't know where I'm at?" Shedeur Sanders asked Coach Prime.
"Nah, you gonna have cameras around and they gonna watch you get robbed. Show you a rat in the subway, a New York rat... your suit will be there tomorrow or Saturday morning," Coach Prime replied.

Coach Prime was not the only one on Shedeur Sander's case about the Heisman ceremony. During an appearance on the "Travis Hunter" podcast on Wednesday, the Buffs quarterback revealed that his mother, the ever-supportive Pilar Sanders, called to ask him whether he was a finalist for the prestigious award.

“My mom called me," Shedeur Sanders said. "She was like ‘oh, you know they’re announcing the finalists! Did you make it?’ I said, ‘I don’t know.’ She said, ‘Well, it’ll be on TV later on.’ I said, ‘oh, aight’… I done had the talk of shame.”

Shedeur Sanders in New York to support Travis Hunter

During Tuesday's segment of his "2Legendary" podcast, Shedeur, who has supported Travis Hunter's Heisman bid all season long, discussed the snub. He said he did not care about not being on the Heisman podium alongside his teammate and instead was happy for him:

"I mean, I'm not really tripping on it, bro, I'm like, honestly, I don't need other validation to know who I am," Shedeur said. "I don't really care, as long as they give one of us the respect we deserve, that's all that matters to me. You get what I'm saying?
"So, if I won the award you feel me? It's on behalf of the team, the o-line, the receivers because without those guys I wouldn't be able to do it." (2:45)
