Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders' lastborn daughter Shelomi Sanders has been ever-present in Boulder supporting her brothers as they've led the Buffs to bowl eligibility. On Monday, it was her turn to shine for her new program, putting in an eye-catching performance in a 96-50 win for the Alabama A&M Bulldogs over Oakwood University.
Shelomi tallied 14 points, one rebound, one assist, two steals and one block during 10 minutes of game time.
Her mother, the ever-supportive Pilar Sanders, continued to show her support for Shelomi with a motivational post on an Instagram clip of her performance. She captioned the post:
"Once you KNOW In / About Yourself and you Keep Pushing everyone else’s Beliefs won’t matter. They’ll see what we’ve been knowing for years! #gobossy #shelomisanders #aamuwbb #hbcu #proudmom #gameday #sniper #22," Pilar wrote.
Not to be left behind, Coach Prime, who voiced his displeasure when Shelomi Sanders entered the transfer portal in April from the Lady Buffs, also posted a congratulatory message for his daughter.
"I’m SO PROUD OF MY BABYGIRL! Bossy do yo thang baby. You took our Conversation to heart yesterday and sprinted with it. Love u baby. Don’t ever Stop letting them know you’re a Sanders. We’re built for Adversity! 14pts 2stls 1blk 1rb 10 min!!! Thank u JESUS for Opportunity. @shelomisanders," Coach Prime wrote on Tuesday.
Shelomi Sanders revealed why she left Boulder
Shelomi Sanders leaving Boulder in April caused a division in her family with her famous father, Deion Sanders, firmly opposing the move. Her mother, Pilar Sanders, though supported her in her search for a team.
During an Instagram livestream a few weeks ago, Shelomi revealed why she needed a change of scenery, necessitating her switch from Boulder to Alabama via the transfer portal.
“I don’t want to say anything too bad,” Shelomi said. “It just wasn’t good energy. It wasn’t good vibes. There wasn’t enough being poured into me as a player and young lady. If I didn’t leave when I did, I promise you I would’ve quit.”
Shelomi Sanders only managed 11 minutes spread over five games with the Lady Buffs, but based on her output during her debut with the Bulldogs, she might finally get to rise in her college basketball career.
