Head coach Ryan Day and the No. 6-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes won the Rose Bowl on Wednesday. They defeated the No. 1-ranked Oregon Ducks 41-21 in the second round of the College Football Playoff to advance to the semifinals.
After the game on Wednesday, insider Colin Cowherd released an episode of his 'The Colin Cowherd Podcast.' He spoke about all the games on Wednesday, starting with the Rose Bowl, and said he believed the Ohio State Buckeyes have become an intimidating team over their last couple of games.
"I don't think we're overreacting to say, that the last two games, Ohio State's hitting harder, they're more explosive. They're intimidating Oregon, they're intimidating Tennessee, they look like Tyson at 24 years old. Other big men feared him in the ring. Ohio State looks, I think Oregon surrendered about eight minutes in, it was like it was over."
What's next for the Ohio State Buckeyes?
After defeating the Oregon Ducks in dominating fashion in the second round of the College Football Playoff, the Buckeyes advanced to the semifinals. Although there is still one more game to be played in the second round between Georgia and Notre Dame, the Buckeyes know their opponent.
They will play in the Cotton Bowl against the Texas Longhorns. The Longhorns also played on Wednesday, defeating the Big 12 champion Arizona State Sun Devils, 39-31, in double overtime to advance to the semifinals of the CFP. The two teams will lock horns on January 10th at 7:30 p.m. ET.
John Middlekauff wonders if the loss against Michigan woke Ohio State up
Colin Cowherd's cohost, John Middlekauff, spoke after Cowherd and wondered if the Buckeyes' loss to Michigan in the regular season finale could have woken them up and prepared them for the CFP.
"I do wonder if after, because they tried to get into a heavyweight fight against Michigan instead of slinging the rock around where Michigan wouldn't slow them down, and they lost, and it bit them. Everyone called out their manhood and toughness, and they go, we are a tough team. It's almost like they got to reset and take it personally because they've come out with a violence that you just don't see in college football."
The Buckeyes lost to Michigan 13-10 in the regular season finale, but since then have dominated both of their CFP opponents.
