Deion Sanders has brought many changes to the Colorado Buffaloes since arriving from Jackson State last season. Right after his arrival, Coach Prime worked on revamping his roster and overhauling it by bringing 86 new players to the team.
In a video shared by Well Off Media in December 2022, we see Deion Sanders' first interaction with the Colorado players after becoming the head coach. The meeting was held at the Buffs' facility with the entire roster in attendance.
In the video, Coach Prime talks to the players about his expectations and goals and introduces the team's new quarterback, his son Shedeur.
"Yeah, quarterback (Shedeur) is coming. Yeah, about 10 more incoming," Coach Prime says. "And they dogs. And they gonna hunt, they're gonna eat.
"...It's gonna be one of the best staffs you've seen yourself. The best recruiting staff you've ever seen yourself. They coming. ...I just met with several to 10 powerful boosters that's ready to give. But I told them I want these kids to focus on NFL, not NIL. But guess what they told me: 'They coming.'" Despite the Buffs undergoing a massive revamp, Deion Sanders could only lead them to a 4-8 campaign in his debut campaign. His son, QB Shedeur Sanders, performed well. However, instead of declaring for the 2024 NFL draft, Shedeur returned for one more season of college football to gain experience.
Colorado became a part of the Big 12 this season. So far in six games, it has secured a 4-2 campaign. After a two-game winning streak, the Buffs lost in Week 7 to Kansas State at home.
Deion Sanders once gave his opinion on importance of culture in college football
Speaking to the press ahead of his debut season in August last year, Deion Sanders shared his opinion on the importance culture holds in a college football program.
Coach Prime said:
"I'm not welcoming to that word, culture. That's all I heard when I was in Jackson State. Culture, culture, culture, culture, culture. Now culture, culture. What the heck does that mean?
"I dont' care about culture. I don't care. I don't care if they like each other, man. I want to win. I've been on teams where the quarterback didn't like the receiver, but they darn sure made harmony when the ball was snapped."
After the disappointing 4-8 campaign last season, Sanders and the Buffs still have the chance of qualifying for the bowl games this year. It will be interesting to see if he can have a successful final campaign with his sons before they leave for the NFL next year.
