Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Will Howard has gone viral for a sweatshirt he wore during a recent press conference.
The sweatshirt Howard was wearing was signed by children from the Nationwide Children's Hospital, a children's hospital located in Columbus, Ohio, where Ohio State University is located.
Last week, Howard spent some time with the children at the hospital, and he used this trip to open the press conference.
“They’re the real heroes, they’re fighting the real battles”
Howard also wore the sweatshirt to raise awareness and draw attention to the "Buckeyethon", Ohio State University's student run philanthropy organization which raises money for the Nationwide Children's Hospital.
Howard responds to his performance vs Penn State
Howard and the rest of his Ohio State Buckeyes team are coming of a victory against the then undefeated Penn State Nittany Lions, that some has described as "sloppy".
In a closely fought affair, the Buckeyes would hold on for a 20-13 victory over the Nittany Lions. The win put one-loss Ohio State back into the picture for the Big Ten championship game and keeps the Buckeyes in contention for a spot in the newly expanded 12-team College Football Playoff.
While the Buckeyes were able to get the important win against their Big Ten rival, Howard does not think that he had the best performance in the game.
"There's no feeling like it, man. It wasn't pretty. I probably played my worst game of the year, just right now feeling, walking off the field. " Howard said after the game.
Howard threw for 182 yards and for two touchdowns in this game but also threw one interception. It was the quarterback's lowest passing yardage output this season. It should be noted that, apart from the Oregon contest (a game in which Howard threw for over 300 yards), Howard has not faced any opposition as strong as the Nittany Lions.
This game may be remembered for the goaline fumble Howard had. Fans did not react to this incident positively, and it was the kind of mistake that should not be seen as the highest levels of college football. Luckily, this mistake did not cost the Buckeyes the game, and they were able to leave Beaver Stadium with the win.
