Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders could not inspire the Buffaloes in his last college football game, losing 36-14 to the BYU Cougars in the Alamo Bowl on Saturday. The NFL-bound Sanders tallied 208 yards on 69.6% pass completion, resulting in two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Before the game, Colorado posted a picture of Sanders of the quarterback seated on the floor of the shower stalls reminiscent of great athletes in the past. After the game, college football fans on Instagram trolled Shedeur Sanders for the attempt at recreating such an iconic photograph.

"This aged well, one fan said."
"He definitely thought this was hard," said another.
"Yea bro, um," commented another.

The jokes continued:

“'Yo can someone come take a picture of me sitting on the shower floor,'” one fan said.
"*Props phone up on wall and adds 10 sec countdown* 'yea dis da one,'" said one fan.
"Prison showers," joked another fan.

Shedeur Sanders & Travis Hunter's farewell goes awry

Colorado stars Shedeur Sanders and Heisman-winner Travis Hunter have been projected to be top picks in the 2025 NFL draft in the latest ESPN mock draft. The duo opted to play in the Buffs' Alamo Bowl game against the BYU Cougars despite their elevated status as projected top picks and just two weeks after Hunter won the coveted Heisman Trophy.

The duo's farewell game did not go according to plan though and the No. 17 Cougars blew out the Buffs. Hunter who wore custom Heisman cleats, tallied 106 yards on four receptions resulting in one touchdown on the offensive side of the ball while adding four solo tackles to close out his college football career with a bang but was unable to influence the result much further.

Shedeur Sanders who tallied only eight interceptions throughout the regular season was uncharacteristically sloppy as well, throwing two interceptions against a stout Cougars defense and was unable to dig the Buffs out of the huge 20-0 halftime deficit.

During his postgame news conference, the quarterback, who was also sacked four times, did not dwell on the result of the game, instead focusing on their impact since they arrived in Boulder alongside Coach Prime from the Jackson State Tigers in 2022.

"It felt great representing Colorado and bringing it back to where it was in the past," Sanders said. "And obviously, we laid the foundation of the program, so now it's stable for the other players that are coming in to take off and pick up where we left off at."

Sanders and Hunter did not have the epic farewell that their fans hoped for in the Colorado Buffaloes' first bowl game since the shortened 2020 season. However, the 9-3 record more than exceeded pre-season expectations.
