Colorado returns to action this weekend following its bye in Week 10. The Buffaloes make a trip to Lubbock to play Texas Tech in what is expected to be a definitive clash for both teams. The Red Raiders are coming off a crucial victory over Iowa State in Week 10.

Ahead of the highly anticipated game on Saturday, Paul Finebaum believes it won't be an easy one for Deion Sanders’ team. Texas Tech’s victory over Iowa State last week has opened a clear path to the championship game for the Buffaloes, increasing the stakes for the upcoming encounter.

“This is a dangerous game. Remember, last week this Tech team beat Iowa State, and playing at Lubbock is a challenge. I believe Colorado has come around though,” Finebaum said on Friday, via Get Up.
“They have so many outstanding players, and really, whatever happens this season, it has been one of the most remarkable turnarounds of all time, especially if they can find a way to get to the championship game in the Big 12.”

Paul Finebaum expresses shock at Colorado’s championship game chances

Following the performance of Colorado in Deion Sanders’ first season in Boulder, not many gave the team a chance at something big in 2024. However, the Buffaloes are already bowl-eligible and are in the championship game conversation. This development has come as a surprise to Paul Finebaum.

“I think this weekend is tricky,” Finebaum said earlier this week, via First Take. “They have a couple of other games, but the fact that we’re even having a conversation on the sixth of November, to me, it may not be surprising to Stephen A, but it’s shocking to me because I undervalued them and I overvalued the rest of the league.”

He added;

“But I think they can get to the championship game. I’m not sure right now they have enough to get past BYU, but I think if they did, Stephen A, we’re talking about one of the greatest, most significant and important college football stories of all time.”

Should Colorado overcome Texas Tech in Lubbock on Saturday, the path ahead to the Big 12 championship game becomes more promising and manageable. While it's far from easy, every remaining team on their schedule after Saturday has struggled significantly this season.

Following the Texas Tech game, the Buffaloes have Utah, Kansas and Oklahoma State in the rest of the regular season. The three teams boast a .500 record or worse heading into Week 11, giving the Buffaloes a promising outlook on their route to the title game.
