Quarterback Shedeur Sanders and the No. 23-ranked Colorado Buffaloes did not finish the season the way they wanted—they lost to the No. 17-ranked BYU Cougars, 36-14, in the Alamo Bowl.
After the game, a fan went on Twitter and posted a video. He talked about why Sanders' inability to avoid bad sacks is a reason he should not be a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
"I’m sorry, Shedeur Sanders is not a 1st round prospect and this is why. This is an egregious example of his pattern of taking too many BAD sacks. Having not learned as a three year starter to go down and not cost your team three points is alarming," a fan said.
Several fans went on Twitter and agreed with the post.
"He'll go in the 1st but he's not a 1st round prospect I agree with that," one fan wrote.
"That’s why he is out of my top 32 even w positional value," one fan commented.
"Because honest it's a weak QB Class none of these guys are really good. Sanders and Ward are the best in the class and that's not saying much. It's just 1 of those classes," another fan added.
However, some fans disagreed, saying that the original post was overly critical of a single play.
"Because he took a bad sack one play. You people are weird at times," one fan wrote.
"One mistake, on one part, and you think he is not a good quarterback. It seems your problem with him has nothing to do with his play on the field," another fan commented.
"Man shut up. He’s absolutely a first round prospect & nothing you post gonna change that," one fan added.
Shedeur Sanders is projected to be a top-five pick despite his flaws
While some fans and media personalities have pointed out that Sanders is a flawed player, he is still expected to be a top-five pick in the 2025 NFL draft. The consensus is that he is one of the two best quarterbacks in his class, alongside Miami's Cam Ward.
However, many draft experts have also pointed out that this is not a strong quarterback class. In November, Jason Fitz spoke about this and even said that Shedeur Sanders would have been the sixth-best quarterback in last year's draft behind Bo Nix. So, while Sanders might get drafted this high because he is arguably the best quarterback available, he is not a franchise savior.
