With Oregon on bye in Week 4, Dillon Gabriel and his fiancee Zo Caswell visited a Pumpkin Patch. The quarterback is settling well at Oregon, and the early break was a brilliant opportunity for him to refresh and get ready for the remaining part of the season.
Gabriel and Caswell had a good time on their couple's outing, as they got the opportunity to spend some beautiful moments together within the busy college football calendar.
Zo Caswell shared a picture of Dillon Gabriel at the pumpkin patch on his Instagram story on Saturday. The quarterback was seen holding a pumpkin which he had picked from the many displayed on the floor. Caswell captioned the picture:
“This is the one apparently.”
Dillon Gabriel getting along with Oregon's offense
After a slow start, Dillon Gabriel is getting along with Oregon's offense. He's the most accurate passer in the country with an 84% pass completion, which pretty much shows how he's getting along with the offensive setup in Eugene.
“I always tell the o-line, ‘You give me the time, I’ll do the crime,’” Gabriel said.
“They’ve continued to do that, and I’m proud of them. It goes to show with any offense, if the offensive line is playing at a high level, it allows the quarterback to play efficiently and clean."
It places him in a good position to break the NCAA record set by Gabriel's predecessor at Oregon, Bo Nix, last season. The current Denver Broncos quarterback had 77.45% pass completion in 2023, completing 364-of-470 passes.
Dillon Gabriel addresses his lack of runs criticism
Having not run the ball so often in the first two games against Idaho and Boise State, Dillon Gabriel has faced a lot of backlash and criticism from fans for sticking ardently to the passing game. The quarterback addressed the criticism after the Oregon State game.
“I know a lot of people want me to switch to running back,” Gabriel said regarding the call to run more. “I think the new day and age of college football, they want quarterbacks to run.”
“But I think it’s when it’s needed as well. When we get in those certain situations, there’s trust in my legs, but also just trust and belief in everyone up front to help me out as well.”
Gabriel showcased his dual-threat capabilities at Oklahoma. During his time with the Sooners, he rushed for 690 yards and scored 18 touchdowns over two seasons, a testament to his versatility as a passer and runner in the backfield.
