The highly anticipated launch of EA Sports College Football 25 is near, with a release date set for July 19.

EA Sports has shared several promotional material online in the past couple of months to get the fans excited. This included a cover release in May that featured Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, Michigan running back Donovan Edwards and Colorado wide receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter.

On Wednesday, the game developer posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) that showed a deep dive of the sights and sounds that will be seen in the game.

However, amid all the new features and gameplay developments, fans will be disappointed with the fact that a particular hand gesture did not make the cut.

As per The Athletic's Chris Vannini, the 'Horns Down' hand signal—a reversed version of the 'Hook 'em Horns' gesture done by Texas fans to support their team—will not be part of the game. The signal has been considered disrespectful to the Longhorns fanbase and has long been a subject of controversy.

CFB fans took to social media to express their disappointment in this decision made by EA Sports.

A fan speculated that the Texas Longhorns compensated EA Sports so that they won't include the 'Horns Down' gesture in the game.

Another fan thought that it would have been a great idea to have rivals doing opposite hand gestures during games.

Texas QB Quinn Ewers expresses gratitude for the opportunity to be a cover athlete for EA Sports College Football 25

In a recent appearance on former NFL star Robert Griffin III's podcast, RG3 and The Ones, Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers talked about the significance of being one of the video game's cover athletes.

He referred to it as a 'humbling' experience and recalled some wholesome memories made with his fellow cover athletes during the shoot.

"It's been great. I mean, it's honestly like humbling, and just like a blessing to be able to have the opportunity to be on the game. I mean, it's been so long since the last one was out," Ewers said. "You know hanging out with those other guys and just experience the whole photoshoot, all the videos we did and it was just an overall cool experience."

EA Sports College Football 25 will be released on the latest-gen consoles, including the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S.
