Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers were hit hard at home against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Kalen DeBoer and his men secured a blowout 42-13 victory over the Tigers in this high-octane Death Valley showdown, leaving Kelly with his third loss of the season and potentially ending the team's playoff hopes.
After their previous loss to Texas Tech, fans expected Brian Kelly and the Tigers to emerge victorious at home in Week 11. However, the Crimson Tide were better prepared for this game as QB Jalen Milroe put on a show, finishing the game with 109 passing yards, four rushing touchdowns and 185 rushing yards.
Fans took to social media to troll LSU after this loss at home to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Here are the top 10 memes that are cracking up the internet.
Many asked how hard is it for Kelly to win big games.
Others suggested winning was not the biggest priority for the LSU head coach.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame fans must be loving their new journey under Marcus Freeman.
After one season with Notre Dame, Brian Kelly took over as the head coach of the LSU Tigers in 2022. He's had bowl-winning campaigns in his first two seasons with the programs but fans want him to take LSU back to its glory days of being natty contenders.
Last season, Kelly helped the Tigers secure a 10-3 overall campaign. While failing to qualify for the playoffs, they did win the ReliaQuest Bowl game against Wisconsin.
With the new 12-team playoffs format in place, the Tigers still have a chance to be a contender this season. However, this loss to Alabama puts a massive dent in their natty championship hopes.
Brian Kelly takes responsibility for loss to Alabama
In the post-game press conference, the LSU head coach held himself responsible for his team's underwhelming performance at home against Alabama. Brian Kelly said that while the outcome of Week 11 was disappointing, they will work to improve their game over the remaining games of the regular season.
"When you put on a jersey for LSU, there's a standard of football that those three letters on your jersey. It's a prerequisite and we didn't live up to that. That's the disappointment.
"We have a scheme to stop the quarterback. We did not get that done, so I take responsibility for it. But we also have to put our players in the right position too to take advantage of what they're capable of doing. So, we own it together, we got to get it fixed, because it's been a couple of weeks now."
The LSU Tigers are next scheduled to take on the Florida Gators. It will be interesting to see if Brian Kelly can keep the hopes of playoff contention alive this season.
