Sherrone Moore among 7 accused in the sign-stealing scandal
Seven Michigan football staffers are implicated in the program's sign-stealing scandal, and Sherrone Moore is one of them. He was the Wolverines’ offensive coordinator in the 2023 season and served as gameday head coach for four games last season in Jim Harbaugh’s stead.
Moore faces serious NCAA penalties for his alleged role in the controversy. He is being accused of deleting 52 text messages with former Wolverines analyst Connor Stalions. This was the angle that reportedly occurred on the same day media reports identified Stalions as the mastermind behind an illegal off-field sign-stealing operation.
These actions constitute a Level II violation, which might result in a suspension and show-cause penalty for Moore. Michigan's athletic department is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation, though they currently have no updates to share.
The NOA draft also implicates other Michigan personnel in Level I violations - Chris Partridge, Denard Robinson, Jim Harbaugh, and Stalions himself. Allegations are also surfacing that a team intern and a full-time employee at Michigan were also involved.
However, the draft mentions that Stalions led them to engage in the controversial sign-stealing scandal under false pretense that they weren't breaking any NCAA rules.
