Top 5 defensive units in college football entering Week 3
#5: Tennessee Volunteers
The No. 7-ranked Tennessee Volunteers have played great defensively to open the season. They have held their opponents to just 6.5 points per game and 185.0 yards per game. Those marks rank tied for tenth and sixth in all of college football, respectively. The Volunteers will host the Kent State Golden Flashes in Week 3.
#4: Missouri Tigers
The No. 6-ranked Missouri Tigers have, arguably, been the best defense in college football through two games. They have not allowed their opponents to score this season and have allowed just 127.0 yards per game. Both marks are leading the nation. The Tigers will host the No.24-ranked Boston College Eagles in Week 3.
#3: Ole Miss Rebels
The No. 5-ranked Ole Miss Rebels rank third in scoring defense and 20th in yards allowed per game. Ole Miss has allowed just 1.5 points and 225.0 yards per game as they have continued to thrive on that end. The Rebels will visit the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in Week 3.
#2: Ohio State Buckeyes

They are tied for fourth in scoring defense and second in yards allowed per game, as their opponents have averaged just 3.0 points and 138.0 yards per game. Ohio State will host the Marshall Thundering Herd in Week 3.
#1: Georgia Bulldogs
The No. 1-ranked Georgia Bulldogs have been dominant on the defensive end through two games - the first of which was a matchup with the then-No.14-ranked Clemson Tigers. They have allowed just 3.0 points per game and 161.0 yards per game.
The Bulldogs are tied for fourth in the nation in scoring defense and fifth in yards allowed per game. They will go on the road to face the Kentucky Wildcats in Week 3.
