The Nebraska Cornhuskers, led by freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola, continued their wretched run of form with a 27-20 loss to the UCLA Bruins in Week 10, marking their third consecutive loss. Raiola left the game in the fourth quarter with a back injury and did not return.
The quarterback has not had the best time in the past few weeks and he went 14-of-27 for 177 yards, resulting in one touchdown and one interception that was returned for a pick-six by Bruins linebacker Kain Medrano.
During his UCLA postgame news conference, Raiola talked about the severity of his injury.

"Got hit in the wrong spot," Raiola said. "I'll come in tomorrow and get checked out and probably get screened. I thought I could fight through it. I went out there and I guess it kind of locked up on me."
During his postgame news conference, Nebraska Cornhuskers coach Matt Rhule said that Raiola had taken a hit to the back, necessitating his withdrawal from the game.
“The doctors clear those guys, right?” Rhule said. “So, I think once the doctor said he was cleared – I just saw him running in. I wasn’t part of anything saying, ‘Hey, let’s get Dylan in here.’ I think once he went through whatever testing they had, he went to run out and then obviously, just felt the pain again and said, ‘Hey, I can’t do this.'”
College football fans on X posted hilarious memes after the controversial quarterback's performance in the game.
Dylan Raiola defended by Matt Rhule
After the Week 9 loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes, during his postgame news conference, Nebraska coach Matt Rhule defended Dylan Raiola's inconsistent form after a brilliant start to his college football career.
“Think about it, you’re a freshman quarterback going out in front of 100,000 people all of whom already have a feeling about you since you were once committed there," Rhule said. "Another one of your freshmen drops the kickoff return and you start on the one-yard line. You bobble the opening kickoff. The thing I loved about Dylan was that he just settled down. He gave us chances.”
“I think he sees the things he’s improving upon; there’s no better teacher than experience. I think he’s getting a ton of experience. They threw a lot of things at him this week. Rutgers threw a lot of things at him, I thought he adjusted and handled really well.”
Dylan Raiola has registered 1,921 yards on 66.1% completion, resulting in 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions in nine games.
