The Arch Manning experience is expected to take off for the Texas Longhorns in 2025. After the Longhorns' heartbreaking loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl, fans are optimistic about Manning's future in Texas.
As Rivals.com posted a video of Manning leaving the field after the 28-14 loss, fans reacted to the sophomore quarterback's future.
Some fans believe he should not return to the Longhorns after seeing limited action this season. Manning seldom saw action in the postseason, with one run for eight yards against Ohio State after not taking a snap in the Peach Bowl.
"He should transfer to Georgia." a fan said.
"Nah he deserve better im a Texas fan n since they didn’t believe in him he should leave n end their season next year nick saban the only coach not afraid to use talent", another fan said.
Some Texas fans hoped the quarterback will come back in 2025, showing more optimism towards the future with Arch Manning taking over for Quinn Ewers.
"Hope he stays!", one fan said.
"I know his fingers and toes were itching throughout that game! Loved following the Longhorns this season but already looking forward to next year! Big shoes to fill…but hoping Arch makes a whole new mold.," a fan responded.
There were other fans who questioned whether Texas should have let Manning take the field more often in Texas’ loss to Ohio State. In particular, when the Longhorns faced first and goal at the 1-yard line and ended up giving a scoop-and-score touchdown to the Buckeyes’ Jack Sawyer.
"Why on Earth did he not get a carry on the 1 yd line????", a fan said.
"If they would have used him properly in the game, they just may have had a chance to win it." another fan added.
Will Arch Manning take over for Quinn Ewers in 2025?
The prevailing sentiment is that the Cotton Bowl was Quinn Ewers’ last game as a Longhorn.
Speaking to ESPN’s Pete Thamel in the leadup to the CFP semifinal game, the junior quarterback answered that he doesn’t expect to play college football this fall.
If that’s the case, Ewers would finish his college career with 9,128 passing yards with 68 touchdowns and 24 interceptions. He is expected to be among the top five quarterbacks selected in the NFL Draft.
As for Arch Manning, he has been one of the most hyped backup quarterbacks in college football. This year he started two games and saw spot duty on others. He finished the year with 939 passing yards, nine touchdowns and two picks.
Manning offers a physical advantage over Ewers. The New Orleans, Louisiana native, is more athletic. He was used in several run packages and ended the season with 25 carries for 108 yards and four touchdowns.
After waiting for his turn, it looks like Manning’s time has finally arrived.
