Travis Hunter is certain to be a top pick in the 2025 NFL draft. The Colorado Buffaloes star is also a massive favorite to win the Heisman Trophy, which will only add value to his already high draft stock.
However, the big question surrounding Hunter is which position would he play in the NFL. He has established himself as a good wide receiver and a cornerback but may only be able to play one of these in the big league.
Hunter made an appearance on the lastest editon of "The Pivot" podcast, where he gave a message to any team who is questioning his ability to play two positions at the professional level.

“CALL COACH PRIME!”
If anyone can give NFL teams hope that Travis Hunter is good enough to play two positions, Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders is that man. Sanders was Hunter's coach, first at Jackson State and then with the Colorado Buffaloes.
Hunter was already seen as a strong player coming into the season, but his performances this year have only cemented his status.
In 2024, Hunter led the team in receiving yards with 1,152 and 14 touchdowns. This was accompanied by 31 tackles and 11 pass deflections he made on defense.
Hunter's role in the Buffaloes' success this year can not be understated. He was a key reason why Coach Prime's team finished the year with a 9-2 record and nearly made the Big 12 Conference Championship game.
He is now preparing to take his trade to the NFL, but questions will still be asked about which position he will play until draft day.
Travis Hunter on the importance of being the No. 1 pick
In the same podcast interview, Hunter spoke about the value of being the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft.
"It definitely matters. I want to be No. 1. First thing I said. That’s the first thing I dreamt of. I ain’t dreamt of winning the Heisman. I dreamt of being No. 1 ... You know, getting to that point where I’m about to be the No. 1 pick off the board? That’s what I want to be. Like I said, I’m the first to do it in my family. Why not keep going and be the first (overall pick)?”
Becoming the overall No. 1 pick is a distinguished honor that Travis Hunter wants. There is a strong possibility of this happening, and a potential Heisman Trophy win will only increase the likelihood of Hunter being the first one drafted.
However, depending on which team is in possession of the No. 1 pick and what position Hunter will play, this could change.
