Colorado's two-way star Travis Hunter has helped the Buffaloes achieve bowl eligibility for the first time in eight years with an 8-3 record so far. The Buffs are also in with the chance of making the Big 12 conference championship game.

However, despite Hunter's stellar performance, the Buffaloes fell to a 37-21 loss against the Kansas Jayhawks in Week 13 of college football action.

Hunter tallied one pass defended and seven tackles on the defensive side of the ball while registering 125 yards on eight receptions resulting in two touchdowns on the offensive side.

Despite the Week 13 loss, Hunter reinforced his stranglehold on the Heisman favorite rankings, moving from -400 to -900 to stay ahead of his closest rival. That rival is Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty (+600), according to FanDuel.

Hunter even got his teammate, quarterback Shedeur Sander's endorsement for the Heisman during his weekly news conference ahead of the game against the Kansas Jayhawks.

"If it’s between me and him, I would want him to get it, because he does a lot of amazing thing and things that ain't never been done before," Shedeur Sanders said.

Travis Hunter favored to win Heisman over Ashton Jeanty

For much of the season, Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty and Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter have been the two constants in the top five of the Heisman Trophy favorites rankings.

Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt favored the Colorado star to win the coveted trophy over Jeanty during an episode of "The Joel Klatt Show." He argued the merits of Hunter's unique two-way status in college football tabbing the Broncos star for other awards.

"All due respect to Ashton Jeanty, you're having a great year, but a Mountain West running back is not winning the Heisman Trophy over a guy [Travis Hunter] who's in the Big 12 doing what he is doing on both sides of the ball," Klatt said.
"He's (Jeanty) going to be a finalist for the Thorpe Award, and he's going to be a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award, and he might win one of them. ... Travis is doing things that I'm just like, that's incredible, because Travis Hunter is one of one."

Ashton Jeanty has led Boise State to a remarkable 10-1 season and the Mountain West Conference championship game. He will likely be on the podium in New York. But in the past few weeks, Travis Hunter has distinguished himself as the clear favorite for the 2024 Heisman Trophy.
