Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders can't seem to keep himself away from the spotlight, even when it comes to his family. On Wednesday, Sanders' eldest son, Deion Sanders Jr., took over his Instagram account and shared his tweet about the Colorado coach getting a reported $600,000 in bonuses this season. Deion Jr. also tagged his siblings in the post to spread the report even further.
While there were some wild replies in the comments, Colorado's Heisman Trophy frontrunner, Travis Hunter, dropped a hilarious revelation, suggesting that Sanders already gave him $100,000 as a share of the bonus.
"I already got my 100k from him 😂," Hunter commented on the IG post.
In the caption of Sanders' IG post, Deion Jr. also wrote that he spoke to Colorado athletic director Rick George to verify Sanders' bonus. However, Coach Prime had to clear the air with a response to his own post.
"This is INCORRECT. I don't know what y'all talking about. My Old money has @blenders on by the way," Sanders commented on his IG post.
Sanders signed a reported five-year, $29.5 million contract when he was hired as Colorado's coach in December 2022. However, Coach Prime has not confirmed the valuation of his bonuses that journalists have reported.
Coach Prime hints that Travis Hunter will play in Colorado's bowl game
After his Colorado (9-3, 7-2 Big 12) team crushed Oklahoma State 52-0 in Week 14 on Friday, Deion Sanders confirmed that his big stars will play in the Buffs' bowl game later in December. This means that CU's Heisman candidates, Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, are anticipated to take the field for the bowl game.
Both Hunter and Shedeur are expected to declare for the 2025 NFL draft. However, the bowl game might be their final outing together at Colorado.
Sanders has improved Colorado immensely this season after leading the team to a rather underwhelming 4-8 record in his first year in 2023. Coach Prime has also garnered interest from some NFL teams but has maintained that he plans to continue working at CU next year.
