Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter continues to get Heisman hype even after the Buffaloes ended their regular season (9-3) and despite missing out on the Big 12 championship game.
Hunter is currently at -10,000 to win the Heisman Trophy and is projected to be ESPN's No. 2 pick in the 2025 Draft. He has another chance to impress with a Colorado bowl game still to come.
On Wednesday, during a segment of the "Overtime" podcast, the Heisman-contending star joked about the Buffs having to pay him $5 million to play in the bowl game.

"No, I quit, I quit yesterday. Yeah, it's over. Yeah," Travis Hunter said jokingly. "They gotta pay me about five mill for me to play. No, I am playing in the bowl game bro. Coach already told y'all.
Why Coach Prime insists on Travis Hunter & co. playing bowl game
The message about Travis Hunter playing in the Buffs' bowl game stems from a comment made by Colorado's charismatic coach, Deion Sanders, during his postgame news conference.
“Our kids are going to play in our bowl game because that’s what we signed up to do,” Deion Sanders said. “We’re going to finish. We're not going to tap out because that throws off the structure of next season. There’s a couple of teams, you take note, they lay an egg in the bowl game and they haven’t been the same," the coach said, without specifically mentioning FSU. "We don’t plan on doing that. We plan on going out and fighting just like we fought today.”
Coach Prime referenced the Florida State Seminoles, whose starters opted out of the Orange Bowl versus the Georgia Bulldogs last year and were soundly beaten 63-3. The Seminoles have seemingly never recovered, finishing the 2024 season with a 2-10 record.
During his postgame news conference, Hunter's NFL-bound teammate, Shedeur Sanders, also reiterated his father's message about the Buffs' best players playing in the bowl game as a matter of principle.
“It’s a team thing,” Shedeur Sanders said. “If me and T and couple other players aren’t out there, the Buffs aren’t going to look the same. We understand the pieces we are to the team, the leaders we are overall, and the amount of players that would sit out if we weren’t out there doing it.”
Colorado fans will be glad that their two biggest stars, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, are seemingly still committed to the Buffs despite having the option to opt out of the bowl game.
