Travis Hunter has faced many challenges since the Heisman Trophy controversy, but his most prominent supporter — his mom, Ferrante Edmonds — is ensuring he knows she is in his corner. Ahead of the Colorado Buffaloes's matchup against the BYU Cougars in the Valero Alamo Bowl, Edmonds shared a brief yet enthusiastic message to rally behind her son and his team.

The Buffs's official Instagram account (@cubuffs) hyped up the game with a poster featuring quarterback Shedeur Sanders, two-way star Travis Hunter, wide receiver LaJontay Wester and defensive back Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig.

“It’s finally GAMEDAY in San Antonio! 🦬,” the caption read while celebrating the excitement ahead of the bowl game.

Edmonds reshared the poster on her Instagram story, adding her message.

“Let’s Gooooo,” which was a simple yet powerful display of her support for her rising star.

The encouragement comes at an important moment for Travis Hunter, who, along with fiancée Leanna Lenne, has faced criticism and scrutiny since Heisman Day. The duo have weathered the storm together, but the visible backing from Hunter’s family and teammates boosts the star wide receiver as he nears the end of his college football career.

Hunter is focused on making every moment count and his mom knows how important his support is, given that just a few games remain before the 2025 NFL Draft.

Deion Sanders sends emotional message for Travis Hunter ahead of the Alamo Bowl

The Colorado Buffaloes are gearing up for their final game of the season in the Alamo Bowl, but for head coach Deion Sanders, the occasion carries more than just competitive stakes. Sanders shared an emotional message for his team, particularly focusing on Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, as they prepare for their showdown with the Cougars.

“This is Travis’ time to shine,” Sanders said, acknowledging the moment's importance. “I know Travis is gonna trigger me. I know it because he always does, and he’s gonna bring tears out of my eyes. But that’s what makes it beautiful—knowing they’re moving to the next chapter of their lives.”

Hunter, who followed Sanders from Jackson State to Colorado in 2023, has credited his coach as being “like a father figure.” Their bond has been evident throughout Hunter’s remarkable season, which included becoming the first defensive player since 1997 to win the Heisman Trophy. In an emotional moment, Hunter immediately embraced Sanders after receiving the award, underscoring the depth of their connection.

This game marks the end of a great chapter for Coach Prime, who overturned the program with just two years in Boulder and his wingmen - Shedeur, Shilo, and Travis Hunter - by his side from the start. It will likely be Hunter’s college send-off and the last time Deion Sanders coaches his sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, in the NCAA. Sanders also reflected on their farewell.

“I don’t know how I’m gonna handle it... but that means they’re going to soar.”

Hunter, expected to be a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, has had a transformative season. His dual role as a cornerback and receiver helped lead the Buffs to a 9-3 record, topping the Big 12 Conference. As the Colorado Buffaloes prepare for their final battle, Coach Prime’s heartfelt words and his mother’s support highlight the legacy that this special player in Travis Hunter leaves behind.
