Colorado's two-way star Travis Hunter expressed his displeasure at not being a part of Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders' heartfelt Instagram post for his three sons on Friday night. Hunter, who has publicly stated his admiration for 'Coach Prime' in the past dropped a cheeky and playful four-word warning on Sanders' post to highlight his dissatisfaction.
"Ok one more strike," Hunter wrote with an angry face emoji.
Sanders flaunted some love for his three boys, Shedeur, Deion Sanders Jr. (Bucky), and Shilo with an emotional note on IG.
"Lord thank u for all my sons the young men I coach and the coaches that are a true blessing to me," Sanders wrote in the caption.
However, Hunter felt left out. Although they are not related by blood, Coach Prime has often insisted that Hunter is like one of his own sons.
On a CFB on Fox appearance in September, analyst Mark Ingram asked Sanders who would win in a one-on-one matchup between him and Hunter. However, Sanders appeared to get emotional while answering the question.
"That's just like putting me against one of my kids." Sanders said. "You can't put a father against a son. You can't do that, man. Don't do that."
Travis Hunter aims to win Heisman Trophy under Deion Sanders' guidance at Colorado
Travis Hunter is having a fabulous 2024 season thus far under coach Sanders at Colorado. The wideout/cornerback is in the running to win the Heisman Trophy and recently explained why he has the edge over Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty.
During an appearance on "Outta Pocket with RGIII" earlier this week, Hunter said:
"Y'all see Ashton Jeanty, but it's not like we haven't seen a running back that's good. We haven't seen a player that plays both ways.
"I'ma keep saying that. He has 95 carries for 1,000 yards. If I had 95 catches, how many yards do you think I'd have? If I had 95 targets on defense, what do you think I'd have? He got double the touches I got on the offensive side of the ball, and I still have defensive stats that's still crazy, and we're only in Week 6. I'm not gonna argue about it."
Travis Hunter has posted 587 yards on 49 receptions and has caught six touchdowns as a wideout. He also has 18 tackles, three passes defended, two interceptions and one forced fumble across six games as a cornerback, helping Colorado to a 4-2 record heading into Week 8.
