Colorado coach Deion Sanders has a two-way player in Travis Hunter. During an appearance on the NFL on CBS podcast, former NFL general manager Rick Spielman expressed concern over Hunter's on-field discipline and technique, suggesting his play style sometimes resembles 'street ball.'

After Coach Prime comparisons, saying, “he got a little Deion in him,” Spielman didn't mince words:

"He is a little bit I don't want to call him Gunslinger; he plays with some savvy but so undisciplined," Spielman said [H/t SI]. [Timestamp - 00:20]

He highlighted Hunter's impressive workload, noting that he often plays over 100 snaps per game. One standout performance was against Stanford, where Hunter played an astounding 157 snaps and racked up 13 catches for 140 yards.

“That's like the most incredible thing I've ever seen,” Spielman said.

Hunter's physical condition and versatility make him an invaluable player for Colorado. Spielman broke down Hunter's potential as a defensive back prospect and speculated on his draft position for 2025.

“He's the best athlete in the entire CB class. I don't know if there's a better athlete in the whole entire draft class,” Spielman said.

Hunter's ability to excel at cornerback and wide receiver positions raises an exciting question: where will he shine the most in the NFL?

Deion Sanders' directive: No tackling Travis Hunter ahead of Big 12 debut

Deion Sanders has taken a protective approach with his Colorado football team, specifically telling players not to tackle star player Travis Hunter.

“We’re in pads. We’re having contact,” Sanders said [H/t SB Nation]. “Take care of your guys. Do not touch the receivers. Don’t get near the quarterback. Leave Travis alone.”

This cautious strategy aims to keep Hunter healthy, as he's not only a standout player but also a vital figure in bringing more attention to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), ranking among the top five most valuable players in NIL deals.

Meanwhile, Colorado has officially rejoined the Big 12 conference after spending 13 years in the Pac-12.

As they gear up for their season opener against North Dakota State on August 29, the team has bolstered their lineup by adding former Oregon State safety Ian Massey.

The Buffaloes are preparing for an exciting season with their return to the Big 12 and the fresh talent on their roster.
