Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter recently re-inserted himself into the Heisman Trophy conversation. This was through a sensational performance against the Cincinnati Bearcats in Week 9 of college football action, on Oct. 26. This also clinched bowl eligibility for the Buffs, for the first time in eight years.

During Colorado's bye week, he headed off to Texas to fish with Buffs coach Deion Sanders. He also joined the set of ESPN's "College GameDay" in Pennsylvania for the clash between the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Ohio State Buckeyes. There, he talked about his Heisman campaign.

Despite not playing in Week 10, Hunter's Heisman chances stayed steady at (+215), just behind Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward (+210).

Ward led his team to a 53-31 comeback win over the Duke Blue Devils. According to "Circa Sports" odds, Travis Hunter is also ahead of Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty (+700), who led the Broncos to a 56-24 win over the San Diego State Aztecs.

On the set of "College GameDay," Hunter credited his team for his rankings in the running for the prestigious trophy.

“I can’t get the Heisman without my teammates,” Hunter said. “I need them to do their job and I need to do my job. We’ve just got to keep grinding and heading in the right direction."

College football fans on X had mixed reactions to Hunter's latest Heisman odds vis-a-vis those of his rivals, Cam Ward and Ashton Jeanty.

Some fans turned their attention to what Hunter needs to do to win the Heisman.

"If he has a monster game Saturday night, I’d expect him to jump back into the top 2. The beauty pageant has ebbs and flows!" One fan tweeted.
"I think jeanty is great man but hunter is an all caliber two way guy who could do it in limited spots at the pro level jeanty is likely a third or fourth round guy who will have his moments. Voters love thinking about the next level bud," another fan tweeted.
"At this point, him just being in New York is probably a best case scenario," one fan tweeted.

Travis Hunter favored for the Heisman by analyst

During an appearance on "SportsCenter," outspoken ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum favored Travis Hunter to win the Heisman Trophy over Cam Ward. This was despite Ward's performance in Week 10 of college football action.

“I am very much out, and we all know what he (Ward) did yesterday, but it was against Duke,” Finebaum said. “And don’t forget, while he was throwing touchdowns, the other guy, Travis Hunter, was on the campaign trail. He was in the key battleground state of Pennsylvania on College GameDay.
"I think he may have helped his cause more with that audience than Cam did playing Duke in an early game. But I still think Travis Hunter, when he returns next week, will command the lead. We still have five weeks to go. All it takes is one bad outing, and the Heisman goes away quickly.”

Paul Finebaum has come a long way. From calling Colorado coach Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes team "irrelevant" before the season to championing one of their players for the Heisman Trophy. Only time will tell whether his initial pessimism for the Buffs holds true or his optimism for Hunter.
