Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig has a close bond with Coach Prime
Deion Sanders, the then-Jackson State Tigers' coach, recruited Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig from Trinity Christian High School in the 2021 recruiting cycle. When he took over as head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes in 2022, the safety, along with Shilo Sanders, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, entered the transfer portal and went to Boulder.
During his weekly news conference before the Alamo Bowl against the BYU Cougars, the Buffs coach was full of praise for Silmon-Craig revealing the report he had given to draft scouts about the safety.
"I've been seeing this consistently since he was a junior in high school," Sanders said. "Cam has played for us for a long time so I've seen his progress and I've seen who he is. I just told a scout, he's asking me about unsung heroes, I said 'Cam's the kind of kid if you allow him, if you draft him, he's not going to get cut. He's not going to allow you to cut him.
"He's going to play special teams, he's going to do this, he's going to do that and he's going to consistently show up on film.'"
After a sensational performance in the Buffs' 38-31 Week 4 overtime win against the Baylor Bears during which Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig tallied 13 tackles (10 solo) and a quarterback hit, Coach Prime was full of praise for the safety's effort.
"Thirteen darn tackles from the safety position? He has a nose for the ball and he practices like he plays," Sanders said of Silmon-Craig. "I'm proud of him tremendously."
Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig now hopes to get picked in the NFL 2025 draft.
