Colorado stars Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders helped the Buffs bounce back from Week 2's 28-10 loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers with a dominant 28-9 win over the Colorado State Rams in Week 3 action. The game had a heated build-up but unlike last year's double-overtime win, coach Deion Sanders' team strolled to the win.

Hunter registered 100 yards on 13 catches resulting in two touchdowns on the offensive end and added five tackles and an interception on the defensive end to round out a complete performance.

Shedeur Sanders went 36-of-49 for 310 yards resulting in four touchdowns to reassert his dominance after a shaky performance in Lincoln against the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Week 2.

During an interview with Clutch Points, the outspoken Travis Hunter gave an in-depth explanation of his unique relationship with Shedeur Sanders while playing for Jackson State and Colorado.

"Shedeur and I have been playing together for a few years now and we have built a relationship where we can just give each other a look and know what that means. He knows that whenever he throws the ball, I will be there to catch it, and having that relationship as a receiver with a quarterback is unique. On and off the field, he is a leader and always looks to bring out the best in those around him," Hunter said.

Travis Hunter tabbed as Heisman hopeful

Due to the unique nature of his two-way status, Travis Hunter has been getting rave reviews ever since he joined the FBS with the Colorado Buffaloes and that praise has gone up a notch this season with every performance.

During an appearance on the "Joel Klatt Show," college football analyst Joel Klatt tabbed Hunter as a finalist for the prestigious Heisman Trophy.

“Travis Hunter probably belongs in New York. I know it’s only three games but if he continues this at all? Like, at all, a percentage of what he’s doing? He belongs in New York,” said Klatt. “We’re getting to see something we’ve never seen in college football, at least in the modern era. We’ve seen some great players that can play both ways. Maybe they’ll roll out there, maybe return a punt here or there. Not a guy like this. Not a guy that is clearly a guy that could win the Biletnikoff Award and the Thorpe.”

The best way for Travis Hunter to be considered for the Heisman is to help the Colorado Buffaloes settle into the Big 12 and become bowl-eligible for the first time since 2020.
