A 16-year-old Pennsylvania high school football player, Tucker Wessner, died from injuries sustained in a truck accident that occurred in June. According to Pennsylvania State Police, Wessner was a passenger in a pickup truck with friends on June 24 at 7:10 p.m. when he fell out of the vehicle during a left turn onto Follweiler Court.

Emergency services were called to the scene, and Wessner was transported to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest Hospital. Despite initial signs of recovery, Wessner’s condition deteriorated, and he died on Tuesday at 11:45 p.m. An investigation into the incident is ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Tucker Wessner was riding on the tailgate of a 2011 Toyota Tundra with another 17-year-old boy when the vehicle made a left turn on Leaser Road in Lynn Township, Lehigh County. Wessner was ejected from the truck and sustained fatal injuries.

The driver of the truck, a 17-year-old male, and an 18-year-old front-seat passenger were not injured.

The accident occurred in June, and state police and the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office are investigating the incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact authorities at 610-395-1438.

Who was Tucker Wessner?

Tucker Wessner was a football player who competed on both the varsity and junior varsity teams. Beyond sports, he was enrolled in the precision machining program at Lehigh Career and Technical Institute. He was described as a beloved friend with a wide circle, Wessner was also an active member of the Boy Scouts.

Wessner, a beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend, was born in Allentown. In addition to his loving parents, Tucker had three sisters: Marissa G. Wessner and her partner, Austin M. Schlegel, Shelby M. Wessner, and Kacie L. Wessner.

He was the adored grandson of Janice D. “Susie” (Silfies) Hamm and Carol I. (Snyder) Wessner.

A celebration of Tucker’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Northwestern Lehigh High School Auditorium, located at 6493 PA-309 New Tripoli.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Reverend Stanley Newton will officiate the ceremony. Interment will follow at Jacob’s Union Cemetery, 8373 Kings Highway, New Tripoli.
