The Tulane Green Wave matched against the Florida Gators in the 2024 Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl. Kickoff for the matchup took place at 3:30 p.m. EST on Friday from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
Tulane finished their regular season with a 9-4 record, suffering a 35-14 loss versus Army in the American Athletic Conference Championship game on Dec. 6 The Gators finished their season with a 7-5 record, winning each of their last three games with two wins over ranked opponents during that stretch.
Defense prevailed in the first half of the Gasparilla Bowl, as the Gators took a 6-0 lead into the locker rooms at halftime despite two turnovers in the first two quarters.
A dominant second half helped Florida Cruise to a 33-8 shutout victory over Tulane. The Gators outscored the Green Wave 27-8 in the final two quarters to secure their first bowl-game victory under Billy Napier.

Florida scored the only points of the first half on the back of two field goals. After punting on the game's opening drive, Florida senior defensive back Trikweze Bridges grabbed an interception to set the Gators up for a 34-yard field goal.
After throwing an interception, Florida caught a lucky break after Tulane missed a 35-yard field goal to keep the score at 3-0. The Gators capitalized with a field goal of their own to take a 6-0 lead into the locker rooms at halftime.
The Gators opened the second half with a 24-yard field goal after forcing a punt on the opening drive. Junior defensive back Alfonzo Allen Jr. grabbed an interception on Tulane’s ensuing drive and Florida capitalized, marching 53 yards in six plays before DJ Lagway connected with Tony Livingston for a seven-yard touchdown, giving the Gators a 16-0 lead.
Florida carried their momentum into the next drive, forcing a turnover on downs and capitalizing with a 30-yard field goal to extend their lead to 19-0. After an exchange of punts, the Gators forced a turnover on downs and took advantage of the short field with a touchdown to take a 26-0 lead.
The two sides exchanged touchdowns in the waning minutes as Florida prepared to celebrate their first bowl win since 2019.
