Kenny Dillingham took over as the head coach of Arizona State last season. After a disappointing 3-9 debut in the Pac-12, the Sun Devils joined the Big 12 conference this season. Fans did not have a lot of expectations from the team in the new conference.

However, Arizona State managed to silence all of its critics with an outstanding display of performance on the field in the Big 12. They sit on top of the conference rankings and will be competing for the conference championship in a showdown against Iowa State.

In their final regular season game, Arizona State took on the Arizona Wildcats in the Territorial Cup showdown. Despite a dominating 35-0 lead at halftime, Kenny Dillingham wanted his team to continue putting pressure and moving forward. In a recap video released by the team, fans caught a glimpse of the motivating locker room speech that Dillingham gave to his players before the start of the second half.

"Same thing we said earlier in the week, twist the knife," Dillingham said. "We have yet to finish a motherf****ng game. We have yet to do that, all year. We've done the same s**t. Finish the mother f***ng game with a vengeance."
"If we think we are who I think we are, a team that compete for championships. We come out in the second half, and we f***ing twist the mother f****ng knife. No pity for the mother f***ing kitty!"

The motivation seemed to have worked for the Sun Devils. The Arizona Wildcats finally found themselves on the scoreboard thanks to a 28-yard TD pass from Noah Fifita in the third quarter. However, ASU scored two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter, putting the final nail in the coffin for their rivals.

Quarterback Sam Leavitt had a fantastic game for the Sun Devils. He completed 17 of the 22 passes he attempted while recording 291 yards and three touchdowns passing. Senior QB Trenton Bourguet also got some limited playing time against the Wildcats and tallied 71 yards along with one touchdown passing.
