UConn vs. UAB: Game Summary
The Blazers were dominant in the first half, stunning the Huskies with a 17-point second quarter. UAB and UConn exchanged field goals to start the game, entering the second quarter with a 3-3 tie. The Blazers kicked a 36-yard field goal to open the second quarter, taking a 6-3 lead over the Huskies.
UAB marched 76 yards in eight plays to score their first touchdown of the game with seven minutes remaining in the first half, taking a 13-3 lead. Both teams exchanged punts before a Lee Beebe Jr. touchdown run put UAB ahead 20-3 entering halftime.
The Blazers’ first half momentum was halted in the third quarter, being limited to just a field goal. UConn got things going on the scoreboard in the second half, marching down the field in 15 plays to cut the lead to 20-10 with a short rushing touchdown. After an exchange of punts, UConn forced a second UAB fumble, taking advantage with a 48-yard touchdown scamper from Cam Edwards, taking a 31-23 lead with 2:39 remaining in the game. The Huskies held the Blazers on their final possession, clinching a 31-23 win.
