The Georgia Bulldogs are coming into the 2024 season with high expectations. But it appears that they are also coming into the season with numerous injured players.
The team's final training camp has concluded, and Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart spoke to the media about some of his team's injured players and how they are recovering.
One of the players Smart spoke about was Jared Wilson. Wilson is a rising star in the Bulldogs offensive line and is tipped to have a strong season this year. Last week, he injured his Achilles in training. According to Smart, he is still training with the team, albeit not involved in some elements:
"Jared’s doing well. He’s been dealing with Achilles tendinitis. He’s been great. He’s worked on the side. He’s been able to push, was able to do some things yesterday. He continues to ramp up his exposure and ramp up his reps.”
Another player Smart has spoken about is defensive tackle Jordan Hall. Hall has suffered a stress fracture on his tibia and recently had surgery on his other tibia. On his recovery, Smart told the media:
"He is now dealing with the exact same thing in the other leg. The other leg had the same thing, it was strange for it to occur, but he didn’t acknowledge it until he started running to get back from the first one. We had to fix the other one.
"He’s on a good timeline, it’s not a long term deal, and now he knows what to expect because he’s had it done to the left and the right. He had the other one fixed. He’s going to be back. We don’t know the exact timeline for that but he’s been in good spirits.”
In 2023, Hall recorded six tackles and had four assists, and he was likely to improve on these numbers in 2024. This now seems unlikely, but he could play near the end of the season.
