The UL Monroe Warhawks took on the Auburn Tigers on Saturday.

After starting the season with a 5-1 record, UL Monroe had lost three straight games before this matchup against Auburn. UL Monroe (5-4, 3-3 Sun Belt) lost 38-17 to Texas State last week.

The Auburn Tigers (3-6, 1-5 SEC) had also struggled most of the year and were coming off a 17-7 loss to Vanderbilt.

According to the sportsbooks, despite UL Monroe’s stronger record, the Warhawks entered the game as huge underdogs. They were given +1400 odds, whereas the Tigers had -3557 odds as favorites.

The oddsmakers were right, as Auburn dominated the game, winning 48-14.

UL Monroe vs. Auburn game summary

The Tigers scored an early TD off a 20-yard pass from Payton Thorne to Cam Coleman only four minutes into the game. UL Monroe struggled, going three and out on its first two drives. Auburn capitalized by scoring a field goal on its second drive of the game to take a 10-0 lead.

Both teams’ drives took a long time, but UL Monroe failed to score. Auburn scored on its third drive of the game halfway through the second quarter, making the score 17-0. It was not until Auburn’s fourth drive that UL Monroe could get a stop.

However, the Warhawks could not capitalize, and Auburn scored again on its fifth drive of the game to take a 24-0 lead into halftime. The Tigers scored on four of five drives in the first half, and the Warhawks went three and out on three of its five drives.

UL Monroe managed to get on the board first in the second half, scoring seven minutes into the third quarter. However, things immediately worsened as Auburn answered with two more TDs before the quarter ended to extend its lead to 38-7 entering the fourth quarter.

The Tigers then scored 10 more points in the fourth quarter. UL Monroe scored with eight seconds remaining, but it did not matter, and the Tigers won 48-14.
