Travis Hunter is fully aware of his strong candidacy for the Heisman Trophy in December after a brilliant season, and he has been relentless in his campaign. The Colorado two-way star has hit the Heisman pose after making big plays in the last couple of games despite getting into trouble with it.

Hunter made the Heisman pose early against Utah in Week 12 after intercepting Isaac Wilson’s pass. The pass deflected perfectly into Hunter's hands, and he returned it 21 yards before being brought down. However, the celebration got him penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct.

This didn't stop Travis Hunter from hitting the Heisman pose once again after a touchdown against Oklahoma State on Friday. The two-way star had another eye-catching performance, placing him in pole position for the award. He also did the celebration at a point against Kansas in Week 13.

Hunter recorded 10 receptions for 116 yards and three touchdowns on Friday as Colorado (9-3, 7-2 Big 12) defeated Oklahoma State (3-9, 0-9 Big 12) 52-0. He also made an interception in the game, marking another brilliant day on both sides of the ball.

Deion Sanders continues to make a case for Travis Hunter

Deion Sanders continues to place Travis Hunter ahead in the Heisman Trophy race following his astonishing performance against Oklahoma State. The Colorado coach believes the two-way star has clinched the Heisman Trophy with his consistency throughout the season.

"Travis Hunter proved today and he has proved every week that he is the best player in college football," Sanders said. "You've got to give me another definition of the award. The award is to go to who? The best quarterback? He's up for best offensive player, best defensive player, a plethora of things. Who else has done that? Ever?"

Hunter is aiming to become Colorado's second Heisman winner, following in the footsteps of running back Rashaan Salaam, who claimed the honor in 1994. He will also become the first primarily defensive player to win it since Michigan cornerback Charles Woodson in 1997.

After playing his final regular season game for Colorado, Hunter is not done playing for the Buffaloes. The team is looking to play in the Big 12 championship game, even though it doesn’t control its destiny on that. If the Buffs fail to make it, they have a bowl game to play.

Regardless of their postseason destination, Deion Sanders has assured fans that Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders will suit up and play in the bowl game. Both players are projected to be a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
