Urban Meyer gives his verdict on Coach Prime's tough love for his players in eye-catching statement

Former Ohio State Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer has high praise for Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders who has often been criticized for the way he coaches and acts in front of his players.

Although Sanders is known for being tough, Meyer said 'Prime' is a great leader and coach. Meyer also said Sanders should be judged by how his kids are, who Meyer believes are great. He said:

"I went out there and watched him coach. I think a lot of people misunderstand the word love. Love is hard, man, it's not soft. He jumps into those guys when he sees them not hustling off the field, not doing this, not doing that, I'm a fan of Prime and I get it. I think a man is measured by his children. His kids are awesome."

Sanders is in his second season at Colorado and has gone 7-9 during his time with the Buffaloes.

Urban Meyer thinks there's more to the story for Deion Sanders banning reporter

Earlier this year, Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders banned a reporter for being critical of him and the program.

It caused quite a stir as it isn't something that happens very often. After the backlash Sanders faced, Urban Meyer said there was likely more to the story than people know.

“I’ve known Deion a long time, and he says things that most people want to say,” Meyer said, via On3. “I’ve never seen a guy ban, you know, guys from asking questions or all that. There’s been times all of us wanted to. I think there’s a two-sided responsibility there.

“He’s going to get, I’m sure there’s a lot of media now, they’re going to just start swarming him. … There’s a certain profile of, once again, I use that term journalist, that they’re not covering your team."

Meyer continued:

"You know, they’re not covering the player, the coach, the university, the team. They’re simply, that’s how they, you know, they get hired to go just be an antagonist for people, and they’re out there.”

Urban Meyer is currently a college football analyst for FOX. He went 187-32 as a college football coach.

Deion Sanders and Colorado are set to go on the road to play UCF on Saturday in a pivotal Week 5 game.
