Former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer has shared his thoughts on the Buckeyes' chances of winning the national championship this year. No. 6-ranked Ohio State will have to overcome the No. 3-ranked Texas Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl on Friday to reach the championship game.

“If Team A shows up, this will be a wrap," Meyer said on Saturday, via 'The Triple Option.' "Ohio State will lift the gold trophy. If their best players, the best roster in the country, plays like the best roster in the country, they’ll be national champs in a few weeks."

The Buckeyes have played two playoff games and have been able to easily defeat their opponents.

In the first round, they dismantled the Tennessee Volunteers 42-17 before routing the No. 1-ranked Oregon Ducks 41-21 in the Rose Bowl.

Ohio State has proven that it is more than capable of taking down the biggest teams this season, led by its stars, mostly on offense.

Players like Jeremiah Smith, Will Howard and Emeka Egbuka have shone this year, and if Texas' defense can't prevent them from finding the endzone, the Longhorns will likely be another victim of the Buckeyes' demolition.

Urban Meyer said that the whole Ohio State roster is NFL-ready

Urban Meyer's confidence in the abilities of Ohio State is strong. He believes that the entire roster is talented and full of NFL-worthy talent.

"Every player in Ohio State will be playing in the National Football League — every player," Meyer said, via 'The Triple Option.' "The offense line, maybe there might be a player or two that won’t play, but I’m sure they’ll be on a roster. But every skill player on Ohio State will be, I think, playing substantially in the National Football League. That’s how good they are.”

This is a massive claim and shows how much belief he has in the program and Ryan Day to develop the players into NFL stars.

However, before Ohio State can think about the NFL or the national championship, they have to focus on the Cotton Bowl and defeating the Texas Longhorns.

This is by no means an easy thing to do. The Longhorns have one of the best defenses in the country and an offense that is not worried about taking risks. Throw in that the game will be played in Dallas, creating a pro-Longhorns crowd, and Ohio State will likely face its first real test in the College Football Playoff this year.
