USC QB Miller Moss shares true feelings about overcoming adversities to be Lincoln Riley's next starting QB: "Don't want to take it for granted"

With 2022 Heisman winner Caleb Williams now in the NFL, Lincoln Riley has put his faith in Miller Moss to lead the USC Trojans in 2024. Graduating from Bishop Alemany High School, the 22-year-old quarterback began his collegiate journey with the Trojans in 2021.

Lincoln Riley bid adieu to Williams in this year's NFL draft. After joining USC in 2022, he spent the last two seasons as the starting quarterback of the program, while Moss was named as his backup on the quarterback depth chart.

In an interview with Adam Breneman, Moss talked about the potential opportunity to be the QB1 for Riley and how he is looking forward to proving his worth to the team. He talked about overcoming adversities to be where he is today and how he does not wish to take anything for 'granted.'

"I think one thing like I wanna keep in mind though is just because you had a certain amount of adversity you were able to overcome doesn't mean that things will now become easy for you. And I want to keep that in mind," Moss said.

"What we do is very difficult day in and day out and if you come to a point where you have arrived or like I understand how to do this, that's the point where you'll get knocked back down."

"So I think I absolutely like my experiences have shaped who I am and prepared me for this opportunity. But I also don't wanna take anything for granted in having this opportunity," he added. (0:40 onwards)

Miller Moss redshirted his freshman season in 2021. He made his first appearance for USC on the gridiron during the 2023 Holiday Bowl, putting up 372 passing yards along with six TD passes and one interception.

Miller Moss to attend 2024 Big Ten Media Days

The USC Trojans crew will reportedly include the quarterback for the upcoming Big Ten Media Days. Coach Lincoln Riley will also be accompanied by center Jonah Monheim and safety Kamari Ramsey.

The 2024 Big Ten Media Day is scheduled to take place from July 23 to July 25 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The Trojans are slated for the second day along with UCLA, Iowa, Michigan State, Penn State and Nebraska.

Riley has yet to officially designate Miller Moss as Caleb Williams' replacement, but he has been named the front-runner to head the Trojans in 2024. It will be intriguing to see if he can guide the program to a playoff spot in the new 12-team system.
