The Trojans are coming off a heartbreaking 33-30 loss in overtime at the hands of Penn State, nearly pulling off the upset against the Nittany Lions in Week 7. Maryland suffered a 37-10 blowout loss at the hands of Northwestern last week, dropping their second-straight game.

After two punts for each side, USC finally drew first blood with an eight-play, 79-yard touchdown drive capped off by a 22-yard Miller Moss passing touchdown to Kyron Hudson, taking a 7-0 lead to the end of the opening period.
The Terrapins didn't take long to respond, answering with an eight-play, 75-yard drive. Billy Edwards Jr. completed a 16-yard touchdown pass to Octavian Smith to tie the game up at 7-7 with over 10 minutes remaining in the first half. The Trojans continued their hot streak with a second-straight touchdown drive, as Miller Moss completed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Ja'Kobi Lane to build their lead to 14-7 with eight minutes to go in the first half.
Looking to cut USC's lead, Maryland attempted a 53-yard field goal with three minutes remaining in the first half, but Jack Howes couldn't convert, giving the Trojans the ball back with the score remaining at 14-7.
After exchanging punts, USC got the ball back with under two minutes left and capitalized, scoring another touchdown on the back of a four-play, 41-yard drive to take a 21-7 lead in halftime. Maryland fumbled the ball on their final drive of the half, sacrificing points in field goal range.
