The Vanderbilt Commodores are set to go on the road to play the No. 7 Missouri Tigers on Saturday in an SEC matchup. Vanderbilt is coming off a 36-32 loss to Georgia State, its first loss of the season.
The Commodores have been a surprise team this season as Vanderbilt beat Virginia Tech in overtime in Week 1. However, heading into Week 4, Vanderbilt does have some key injuries.
Vanderbilt Commodores injury report
The Commodores have two major injuries, for which coach Clark Lea gave an update.
Khordae Sydnor, DL
Vanderbilt senior defensive lineman Khordae Sydnor is in his first season at Vanderbilt after two years at Purdue. Sydnor has missed the past two weeks with an ankle injury but has since returned to practice. Lea says he isn't sure about his status for Saturday.
“Khordae, he’s gonna be working back in this week,” Lea said, via On3 “He’s questionable for the game, but I’m hoping there’s some level of availability there. I feel really good with where he’s progressed.”
Sydnor was named a starter out of camp but he got injured in Week 1 against Virginia Tech.
Zaylin Wood, DL
Zaylin Wood is unlikely to play in Vanderbilt's road game against Missouri on Saturday.
Lea said Wood is dealing with an ankle injury that he suffered in a Week 3 loss to Georgia State.
“Zaylin probably won’t be available,” Lea said. “He’s working through an ankle and it’s just gonna take a little time.”
Wood recorded seven tackles and one sack in the season opener against Virginia Tech but has yet to record another stat in the two games since then.
Vanderbilt a big underdog against Missouri
Vanderbilt enters its Week 4 matchup against Missouri as a 21-point underdog.
It is a tall task for the Commodores to pull off the upset. However, Missouri isn't taking Vanderbilt lightly, as Tigers coach Eliah Drinkwitz says this is the best Vanderbilt team he's seen.
"Vandy, I think, has always been a very difficult out for us," Drinkwitz said, via CBS. "This is Clark's best team since he's been there."
Vanderbilt vs Missouri is set to kick-off at 4:15 ET, with the game being shown on SEC Network.
