Steve Sarkisian weighs in on quarterback competition between Arch Manning and Quinn Ewers
The Texas quarterback competition is among the most talked-about storylines in the nation. With top-notch quarterbacks like Arch Manning, Trey Owens and Quinn Ewers, the Longhorns find themselves in a good spot going into the 2024 college football season.
However, owing to Arch Manning's famous last name, many were looking forward to seeing him perform during his second year at Texas. That would have been true had Ewers had declared for the 2024 NFL draft, but he decided to come back for another year, which means another year of waiting for Manning.
During the 2024 SEC Media Days, Steve Sarkisian talked about Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning's friendly relationship, contrary to what many assume it to be:
“These guys are great, great friends. Nobody gets along better, there’s a real level of appreciation for what each guy is doing. Because they know the journey, they know the path, they know how we coach him.
"From Arch's perspective, he’s watching Quinn have to go through some of the adversity, having a fight through injury, having to deal with the criticism of being the quarterback of Texas, so to see him have success, I think Arch is fired up for Quinn.”
