Syracuse (5-2, 2-2 ACC) hosted Virginia Tech (5-2, 3-1 ACC) in an Atlantic Coast Conference Week 10 encounter at the JMA Wireless on Saturday. It was anticipated to be a thrilling encounter as both teams were looking to seal bowl qualification with a win.
The Hokies entered the game with a three-game winning streak on the road to face and were hoping to build on the momentum and extend that. The Orange, on the other hand, were in urgent need of a rebound performance following their loss to Pittsburgh last weekend.
Virginia Tech, which has found its footing following a disappointing start, entered the game as a 4-point favorite. Syracuse, however, fancied its chances of an upset as it looked to regain its momentum.

Virginia Tech started the scoring in the Week 10 encounter with a rushing touchdown in the first quarter. Jaylin Lane rushed seven yards to the endzone with 8:45 left on the clock.

Virginia Tech extended the lead in the third quarter with the first passing touchdown of the game. Collin Schlee found Ali Jennings with a 12-yard pass for a touchdown with 7:44 left.
The Orange responded a few minutes later with their first touchdown of the game. Quarterback Kyler McCord located Justus Ross-Simmons from 55 yards for a touchdown with 6:08 left in the third quarter.
Syracuse drew the game much closer with another touchdown. LeQuint Allen rushed for a touchdown from the one-yard line with 2:53 left. The Orange went for a two-point conversion afterward and got it right.
The Orange took the lead for the first time in the game at the start of the fourth quarter. Kyler McCord located Justus Ross-Simmons for the second time in the game, this time from 28 yards with 14:22 left. Jackson Kennedy failed to convert the extra point.
Virginia Tech retook the lead three minutes later with another rushing touchdown. Malachi Thomas rushed for 15 yards to the endzone with 11:04 left on the clock in the fourth quarter.
The Hokies got more comfortable with their lead as they scored a field goal with 5:16 left on the clock in the game. John Love hit the target from 27 yards after a series of eight plays.
Syracuse got back on level terms with a rushing touchdown in the Final minute of the game. LeQuint Allen rushed to the endzone from the one-yard line with 0:29 left in the game, thereby taking it to overtime.
LeQuint Allen went on to seal the iconic win for Syracuse in overtime with a nine-yard touchdown run. This marked a bounce back for the Orange following the loss to Pittsburgh last weekend.
