EA College Football 25 is the gaming giant's fulfillment of a promise made three years ago to revive the franchise. This is the first licensed college football game in over a decade and is bound to give avid fans across the country a chance to play as their heroes.

A free beta version is often associated with such high-profile titles, where gamers can experience the game before its release. While this helps them get a closer look into the game, their feedback also helps developers understand which aspects of the game work and which ones need improving.

EA did not release a free beta of the game to the public ahead of its launch. Instead, they made a 10-hour free trial exclusively available to those individuals who have an EA Play subscription, which comes with a monthly fee of $5.99.

Once the trial was done, gamers needed to purchase the entire game to keep all of its features. The standard version costs $69.99 while the deluxe edition costs $99.99. Gamers can also purchase the MVP bundle edition, which allows players to get their hands on both College Football 25 and Madden 25 for $149.99.

EA strikes gold with the return of an NCAA Football video game

The introduction of Dynasty and Road to Glory modes have made the game quite popular among fans and that is seen in its sales. According to recent reports, over 2 million copies of the games have been sold, which is a testament to its popularity among fans.

In fact, the game scored big in Australia and New Zealand, topping weekly sales charts as of July 20, 2024. Overall, sales for the Deluxe Edition, retailing at $99.99, soared over 2.2 million just three days before its official July 19 launch. In addition, over 600,000 users accessed the EA Play free trial, which represents an incredible success for the gaming giant.

With the 2024 college football season beginning in three weeks, the sales numbers look set to increase further. In fact, it is well on its way to becoming the highest-selling college football game of all time.
