Washington Huskies quarterback Will Rogers has had an eventful career in Seattle after joining the team under the tenure of coach Kalen DeBoer, who then took the Alabama Crimson Tide job after coach Nick Saban retired.

When DeBoer departed, Rogers entered the transfer portal and spoke to various programs after the event but finally opted to withdraw from the transfer portal, stay with the Huskies and play for new coach Jedd Fisch.

The quarterback posted a picture on his Instagram stories of the team back together during the college football offseason with the caption:

"Feels good to be back with my brothers."

Will Rogers reveals why he stayed at Washington

Huskies fans have not yet had the Will Rogers experience after enjoying the services of former quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who departed for the Atlanta Falcons via the 2024 NFL Draft in April.

During an interview with ESPN, Rogers explained why he opted to stay in Washington after coach Kalen DeBoer left for Alabama.

"Some of the guys at Washington," Rogers said. "The team went 14-1 last year. If we can pick up where we left off, obviously it's going to be a tough task, but I think it's why you come to Washington. It's obviously a new conference and things like that. But I have a lot of faith in Coach Fisch and feel like he'll be ready to have us compete at a high level."

Will Rogers will bring extensive experience to the Huskies. He accumulated 12,315 yards in four years of playing for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, which is the second most in SEC (Southeastern Conference) history.

The yards resulted in 94 touchdowns and 29 interceptions in former coach Mike Leach's Air Raid offensive system.

Rogers also outlined the plan that Washington coach Jedd Fisch has for his future in the NFL after the 2024 season ends. This was one of the deciding factors in the quarterback opting to remain in Seattle.

"That's the plan," Rogers said. "Coach Fisch told me today, 'I want to treat you like a professional football player.' I told him that's what I want, and that's what I'm looking to do."

The Washington Huskies are in a unique position as one of the prime destinations in college football due to the work of former coach Kalen DeBoer, and Will Rogers will hope that his last season at that level will be a stellar one.
