No. 12-ranked Miami Hurricanes' quarterback Cam Ward gifted his offensive line personalized chains on Wednesday. Each player received a customized chain with their number on them. It was a generous gesture from Ward, who has a $2.1 million NIL valuation.
It is common for quarterbacks in the NFL to give big gifts to their offensive line because they typically make a lot more money. However, it is not as common in college because they were not able to make NIL money until recently.
However, with the new NIL rules, quarterbacks are now able to make these gestures in college football too.

However, not everyone is impressed. Many people on social media are trolling him. Some said it was a waste of money.
"Lmao wasted all that money. Gonna be selling life insurance in two years," one fan wrote.
"I’d waited till they won the conference first. What are we celebrating??? I guess I’m old with 3 Nattys," one fan commented.
"Had to get them some hardware somehow cause they losing the first playoff game they play trash ass team," one fan added.
However, not all fans were negative. Some praised Cam Ward and said it was a great gift to his teammates.
"The jewelry appreciates in value since it's custom. Then factor in Cam's career. Say Heisman invitee plus record holder at UM. Pro career will buttress that value also. Very nice gift. I saw a ring/jewelry bid and the seller made a killing," one fan wrote.
"NIL estimate of 2.1… but the decision to come to Miami and play behind these guys instead of going to the NFL in the third round probably made him 30+ million in one season cause of his draft stock… Good job Cam take care of your investment!!!! Go Canes!!!," one fan commented.
"It's great to see athletes giving back to their teammates," one fan added.
Cam Ward and the Miami Hurricanes will look to bounce back after their open week
Cam Ward and the Miami Hurricanes (9-1) are on an open week after their 28-23 loss to Georgia Tech. When they get back into action, they will try to get back into the win column against Wake Forest on November 23.
After losing on Saturday, they have fallen to a tie for second with Clemson in the ACC. To give themselves the best chance to make the ACC Championship, they must win both of their last two games.
