Alabama freshman wide receiver Ryan Williams was the star of the show as the Crimson Tide knocked off Kirby Smart's Georgia Bulldogs, 41-34, in a thrilling Week 5 clash. He registered 177 yards on six receptions culminating in a scintillating touchdown on a 75-yard pass by Jalen Milroe.

Williams has become college football's worst-kept secret and his new status was reflected in an improved rating in the popular EA Sports College Football 25 game, going from 81 to 82 overall.

On Friday, a clip of the $1.5 million NIL-valued Williams (as per On3) finding a new card of himself on the game's ultimate team pack was posted on Bleacher Report's Instagram page. Williams let out a scream of joy when the card was revealed.

The spectacular Week 5 performance against the Georgia Bulldogs has impacted Ryan Williams off the gridiron as well. According to On3, he gained over 160,000 new followers on Instagram and now has a total of 640,000 combined followers on various social media platforms.

The big jump was seen in his NIL valuation which sky-rocketed from $768,000 to its current value of $1.5 million. Williams is currently No. 12 among college football players and No. 14 on On3's NIL 100 showing the growth of his brand in a few short days.

Ryan Williams trusted by his coach and Alabama teammates

Ryan Williams, formerly of Saraland High School, could have conceivably gone for a three-peat of the Alabama Mr. Football title and would have been the only player in history to hold that distinction. Instead, he reclassified to the class of 2024 and has gone on to make waves in college football.

During his weekly news conference, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer broke down the aspects of Williams' personality that make him such a special player:

“Right off the bat. First game, not easing into it, he comes out and gets two touchdown catches and since then it’s just been continuing to go this direction,” DeBoer said. “It’s a special person that, number one, makes those plays on the field, but a special person that can handle what it takes every day to continue to bring your best.”
“I think our team really saw in him the maturity he has and how he’s beyond being a 17-year-old this summer. Just his commitment and sacrifice to doing what he needs to,” DeBoer added.

Ryan Williams has become quarterback Jalen Milroe's most frequent target this season and he has repaid that faith by registering 462 yards on 16 receptions resulting in five touchdowns.
