It was a meeting of former and future Buckeyes when Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud linked up with Ohio State class of 2025 commit Devin Sanchez on Friday. The two met following a practice session at the Texans training camp ahead of the 2024 NFL season.
The two were seen having a chat following the conclusion of the Texans' practice. Stroud gave Sanchez a warm reception as the high school senior came onto the training pitch to meet him. Another former Buckeyes, Jeff Okudah, was said to have brought Sanchez to the camp.
C.J. Stroud, who has a net worth of $12 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth, enters his second season in the NFL in 2024 following a highly impressive rookie year. Sanchez, meanwhile, plays his final season at high school before teaming up with Ohio State.

Jeff Okudah is reportedly mentoring Devin Sanchez
Houston Texans cornerback Jeff Okudah is reportedly mentoring Devin Sanchez ahead of his college football career, which begins in 2025. Okudah was ranked as the No. 1 cornerback in his class, and the same now goes for Sanchez as he enters his final season at high school.
“Devin’s my dog,” Okudah said. “He reminds me a lot of myself coming up through the recruiting cycle. Super-talented kid. I think the sky’s the limit for him. Just watching how he moves, his technique. I think he’s going to be one of those ones at Ohio State.”
Okudah’s efforts in mentoring Devin Sanchez reinstates his commitment to the Ohio State football program, referring to it as a brotherhood. He reached out to the class of 2025 cornerback following his commitment to the Buckeyes in January.
“We’re a brotherhood at Ohio State, so we always have a mentality to pay it forward,” Okudah said.
“When I saw he committed and saw him at the spring game, I just wanted to be there for him and support him however I could. I just want to help him get to where he ultimately wants to get to.”
The mentorship experience under Jeff Okudah has been a fantastic one for Devin Sanchez. The North Shore High School (Texas) prospect is eager to follow in his footsteps as he proceeds in his career.
“It was a great experience learning from a guy that’s been in the league going on Year 5 now,” said Sanchez.
“He played at Ohio State, just like me — All-American cornerback. So I’m just trying to follow in those footsteps, just learning from him, learning the little things that can help my game go to the next level.”
The relationship between Okudah and Sanchez brought the latter to the Texans training camp on Friday. He had the opportunity to meet several players on the team, including C.J. Stroud, who he had a chat with following the practice session.
