Colorado's two-way star Travis Hunter has had a stellar season but he recently had to deal with the controversy of being left out of the finalists list for the prestigious Jim Thorpe Award that recognizes the best defensive back in the country. He put aside the disappointment of being snubbed for the award by putting in an impressive performance in the Buffs' 52-0 win over the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Week 14 of college football action.

Hunter started his sensational performance with an eye-catching interception in the first half of the contest and went on to pull off an iconic Heisman-pose celebration.

The two-way star tallied 116 yards on ten receptions resulting in three touchdowns while adding one tackle, one interception and two pass breakups. A clip posted on the Sko Buffs X account showed the aftermath of the $3.6 million NIL-valued Hunter's (as per On3) popularity in Boulder.

The line to Travis Hunter's pop-up shop in Boulder snaked for almost a mile as the NFL-bound Buffs star bid farewell to Colorado fans.

Hunter is ranked No. 3 in the On3 NIL 100 and is No. 2 among college football players just behind his Colorado teammate, quarterback Shedeur Sanders who tops the rankings with a valuation of $6.2 million.

Travis Hunter cements Heisman campaign

Travis Hunter became the first player in college football to register three touchdowns and an interception in the same game during the Colorado Buffaloes' 52-0 win over the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

During his postgame conference, Colorado coach Deion Sanders made the case for Hunter to win the Heisman undisputed, due to his unique two-way status in college football.

“You’ve never seen it before,” Deion Sanders said. “He’s (Hunter) the best player in college football. I think Travis clinched the Heisman with his performance. I think he made a lot of people aware of how ignorant they were, his performance today, three touchdowns, 100 yards, an interception and two passes broken up.
“Travis Hunter proved today, and he’s proved every week, that he is the best player in college football. I think he’s up for best offensive player and defensive player. I don’t waste my time talking about other athletes that are up for the award as well. That’s not fair to them for me to voice my bold opinion on who should win the award and downgrade them.”

Coach Prime revealed that Travis Hunter and the other departing Colorado stars would play in the Buffs' bowl game later in the year so college football fans will still get a chance to watch him in action.
